Jacob Wright —
4x D1 NCAA Qualifier
ABOUT ME
My name is Jacob Wright I was born in Visalia, CA, and went to Dinuba High School where my dad, Michael Wright was the head coach. I was a high school state finalist and 2x state placer. I was Fresno State's first commit when they reinstated the wrestling program where my head coach was Troy Steiner. I transferred to the University of Wyoming and wrestled for Head Coach Mark Branch when
Fresno State cut its program in 2020.
I finished my college career with 103 wins, was a 4x D1 NCAA qualifier, a round of 12 in the 2021 NCAA tournament, 3X NCAA Academic All-American, and 4X First-Team Big 12 Academic Team. I am now committed to passing on knowledge to the youth and training the next generation of champions.
Meet the Team
Michael WRIGHT II
High School Assistant Head Coach
Michael Wright II, Jacob's brother played Division 1 NCAA FCS football for Sacramento State. In high school, Michael was a leading rusher in the state and holds the all-time rushing and scoring record in Dinuba High School's history, additionally, he was DHS's first four-time state qualifier for wrestling. Now he coaches Redwood High School where coached them to a 2023 and 2024 Valley Championship in his third year with the team. In only 5 years of coaching, Michael Wright II has had 9 state placers and one CIF finalist at DHS.
My coaching philosophies and techniques are based on a combination of my coaches in colleges and high school mainly from Troy Steiner, Mark Branch, James Nicholson, and Michael Wright Sr. Our main mission at WWA is to get athletes to fall in love with wrestling and the process of getting better rather than results. We are training tomorrow's champions, not just on the mat, but in life.
CORE VALUES: GRATITUDE, EFFORT, DISCIPLINE, COACHABILITY, AND CONFIDENCE
